About this survey

This study, titled ‘The Differential Impact of State and Trait Anxiety on Inhibitory Control in Adults’ is carried out by Cintia Wollner (cintia.wollner2@mail.dcu.ie) of Dublin City University’s Open Education Unit as a final-year undergraduate research project.

The project’s goal is to test whether our momentary and general anxiety influence our ability to focus our attention, filter out unnecessary information and eventually, reach our goals.

Should you choose to partake in the study, you will be asked a few general questions (such as your age and gender), as well as questions about your anxiety. Then, you will engage in an interactive task to see your current attentional abilities.

On the whole, this will not take you more than 10 minutes, yet your contribution will be of great value to our understanding of this topic, especially, given that so many people worldwide experience and suffer from anxiety.

Please note that taking part requires you be fluent in English. The experiment can only be completed on a personal computer.

Participation in the study is voluntary. You are free to withdraw at any time.

If you feel anxious during or after you participated, please remember that you are free to withdraw any time. Should you be in need of support, please find resources and/or help on the HSE (www2.hse.ie/services/mental-health-supports-and-services-during-coronavirus/) and NHS (www.nhs.uk/conditions/stress-anxiety-depression/mental-health-helplines/) websites, or those equivalent to your country of residence.
