About this survey
Personality Traits and Decision Making
Thank you for your interest in this study! We are interested in understanding the influence of different personality traits on decision making. Specifically, we are interested in understanding the behavioural consequences of personality characteristics associated with anxiety disorders.
What does the experiment involve?
You will be asked to complete a set of questionnaires measuring your general well-being and personality traits. Then, you will be asked to participate in two decision making tasks lasting approximately 15 minutes in total. The first task requires you to choose between four options seen on the computer screen, each yielding a different outcome of points. The objective of the task is to score the maximum number of points possible. The second task requires you to respond to the instructions on the screen by either pressing the spacebar or not.
Following the decision-making tasks, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire. In total, the experiment will take no longer than 30 minutes.
During the course of the experiment, attention checks will take place. This is to ensure that you are reaing the questions before answering them. An example check is: 'This is an attention check. Please answer "most of the time"'
Eligibility Requirements:
We are recruiting individuals between the ages of 18 & 30 with no history of psychological or neurological conditions. You will need to have normal/corrected-to-normal vision to participate.
What are the possible benefits of taking part?
Although the study itself will not benefit you directly, the findings from the study will help improve our understanding of individual differences in decision-making. Furthermore, our understanding of the subject will allow us to incorporate changes into current treatment plans for individuals with clinical levels of the investigated personality traits.
If you choose to provide your email address, you will be placed into a prize draw for a £10 Amazon gift voucher following the completion of the study. You email address will not be shared and will be deleted following the results of the prize draw. Participation is voluntary.
