Features of PsyToolkit in a nutshell:
-
PsyToolkit is free-of-cost computer software
-
for creating computer based psychological experiments (to show stimuli on screen, measure response times, etc)
-
for creating computer based questionnaire surveys
-
for combining cognitive experiments and surveys within online studies and data collection
-
-
It allows you to run experiments in two different ways:
-
You can create and run studies from within a browser on any computer platform (Mac, Windows, Linux). Ideal for teaching and online studies.
-
You can run it on a Linux computer. This offline mode is ideal for laboratories, although most people reading this will most likely use the web-based version.
-
-
The online interface for online surveys and online experiments supports multiple languages (currently English, Chinese, German, Dutch).
-
PsyToolkit does not cost money. But it important to note that it is the intellectual property of its creator Dr. Gijsbert Stoet (Reader in Psychology at the University of Glasgow).
-
PsyToolkit is not point-and-click software. You need to type your code (many examples are provided). This requires a different way of thinking and learning, but in the end allows the user a lot of creativity.
-
PsyToolkit is developed at the University of Glasgow by psychologist Dr. Gijsbert Stoet.
